    RS good for..

As many have said, the RS products market is
changing. I think they should still sell the specialty
items such as Weather Radios and CBs. The AV department
is OUT. Also, what's with RS Unlimited? Compaqs are
great. Also, the Compaq store within a store?... is that
like the Sprint thing? How will they fit 2 stores in
    the little space they have?

Please! Your the loser wasting time working for Tandy!

All the overpaid management sits up top figuring how to screw the little guys and gals down at the end of the chain.

"Now lets see, lets take away there spiffs if they don't make commission" Oh boy, thats the incentive to sell TSP's.

Did you ever look at the average employees car? They make enough $$$$$, along with their second job, to just squeek by.

This is 1998. Can you even come close to guessing how overpaid upper management is? Please! Plus you little guys have to be experts and become certified in a dozen or so fields. Yep, then you qualify for minimum wage. How can you see anything where your head is? Keep it up, they need lots of little suckers like you out there.

Years ago, I would go into RadioShack and find some pretty knowlegable folks. Now the majority of employees are just kids that don't even care. When I was working there, they cut our hours so thin that many times only one person was running the store. Customers would get #$%$ and walk out quite often. What would it cost the company to pay a minimum wage person a day to be there, $45 to $60 bucks. Hell, if that person only sold one good cordless phone all day it would pay for his being there. Not to mention, saving that customer that would have become disgusted waiting for help. Plus, the local shoplifters now know the the Shack is an easy target. Where is the brains of upper management? All they are concerned with now is residuals......free $$$$$$$$. No products to warehouse. Wake up and smell the roses. You will see, your precious TAN stock will pay its due to the direction of this outfit.
By the way, Mr. Customer, after I hound you for your N&A, stick this cell phone up your butt, ram this Sprint service down your throat and by the way, you can't leave until you say NO three times regarding a TSP. Now wasn't this a pleasent visit at your local RadioShack. Sorry, all you need is a fuse. Oh don't forget the powerzone card! Here let me punch it for you. Now your average customer is thinking......if this salesperson says one more thing......I'll punch them! YOU are driving your loyal customers away. I have had more of my friends tell me they hate going into RadioShack. Keep it up mangement, you will eventually shoot yourself in both feet.

    • For the most part....Radio Shack sells #$%$..!And the stock....check it out today.....DOWN over 5....!

    • I know consumer confidence was down 10 pts. today
and many retailers took hits. But this seems to be
quite a hit. I'm gonna try to call the company but I
think I'm too late today.....anybody hear anything, let
      us all know!

    • Have you ever really looked at RS's home stereo
equipment... Does it not look like pioneer.. Well it should..
as they are the ones that make some of or home audio
eqipment.. most of the equipment that we do carry in our RS
stores are made by high end electronic manf. we just put
or name on them as we back up the warr. on them.. I
will admit that some of the equipment that I have sold
was not the best brand.. but for the price and what
the customer wanted they where happy.. I will admit
that there are also some lemons that I have sold.. It
really sucks because then that customer has a bad look
at RS because of it.. I rem. on time I went to open
one of our powered subs and hook it up for display ..
The thing would not work.. We ended up sending it off
for repair.. I was just happy that it did not get
sold.. but still that makes me wonder.. what type place
we let this stuff slip by .. after all it just makes
      them look bad... who knows...

      but as it goes
for the stock.. Just watch.. it will go up.. not fast
and not alot but it will go up.. :)

    • I have been WORKING Radio Shack for over a year
now. My manager loves it when I wear my heels and
black nylons. My short skirts are the hit of the Mall.
I make a lot more money on TRICKS here than any
      streets I have worked.

      Radio Shack Unlimited has a
      whole new meaning now.

    • Yes, you have made a good point in your reply.
Obviously Radio Shack has more going for it than I have
noticed. I must confess the last few years I haven't been
there THAT often (especially this year: mainly going in
      to pick-up specific part items).

      Since I plan
to check on those headphones I posted about, I will
really give the store and the UNLIMITED offering you
mentioned a look-over. Again, thanks for the information.
These details need to be promoted to RS customers (if
      they already aren't).

      I really hope that Radio
Shack makes a comeback for you
      stockholders!

    • RadioShack has a unique service they call
RadioShack Unlimited. It is a catalog display in almost
every store in the country listing over 100,000 unique
and hard to find products for delivery direct to your
door. These products include things you would expect
from RadioShack like batteries of all types, tubes,
stereo needles, special cellular and PCS accessories, CB
and scanner crystals, etc. What you do not expect is
what makes this service one of the best kept secrets
at RadioShack. "RSU", as the store personnel call
it, also offers things like special TV and speaker
wall and ceiling mounts, special radios and telephones
( some look like juke boxes to football helmets ),
Sony Playstations, Nintendo 64's and all their newest
software, plus many more things to long to mention. As far
as DVD..."RSU" at RadioShack offers two different
RCA models and two different Panasonic models, one a
portable! This service allows RadioShack to offer thousands
of more products in a small store format. My local
store uses this service all the time and you should
look in your local store for the display. You can't
miss it. The display has a backlit sign above it and
the catalogs flip up like a telephone booth. Check it
out. With added services and added products, "It's not
your fathers RadioShack anymore", it's Unlimited.

    • I don't know what products make the highest
profits for RS but I think they need to move into the
      higher-end electronics (better quality name-brand
merchandise, but not necessarily too high-priced).

      I
mainly just purchase cheaper parts & equipment gear from
them as their own brand of larger electronic items
just don't impress me compared to those of BestBuy and
the more upscale audio/video stores. Consumers are
learning more about product lines/purchases (especially
thru the internet), so RS ought to broaden their
product line and attract customers away from their
      competitors.

On their own, how many consumers today are really
aware or interested in their average local RS store?
How many have even visited lately? I certainly don't
want to see them suffer anymore as I have fond
memories/satisfaction from past purchases (I own no stock).

      Are
they planning on jumping into DVD sales? This line is
      growing strongly EVERY day.

      In conclusion, if
they just still insist on mainly keeping their own
brand of electronics, how about some added unique
features to their equipment offerings? I just heard from a
friend that they manufacture some kind of
"Surround-sound headphones" which are different from all others.
I plan to check into this as I use headphones
      regularly.

Just my reflections... Long live Tandy!

      P.S. I
agree with the others to buy when it's low (somebody
mentioned Tandy at $20 soon). Remember 5 years ago when IBM
was on a temporary down-turn and their stock suffered
in the low 70s? Now how long did anyone think that
IBM would not make a comback (it's currently at $145,
and they are constantly innovating and growing).
Smart investors jumped at the chance back then to get
IBM on the cheap; I bet it reaches even higer (but
probably not during the '99 Y2K year--so much fear and
world-wide sluggishness will stagnate many tech stocks next
      year).

    • I just wanted to commend you for your response.
Most of the time it is rude know it all customers who
give helpful employees a bad rap. Not to say retail
employees are always right, they aren't, but from my
experiences at RS, at least they are willing to go find an
      answer to questions.
