    Hmm, was there a downgrade?

Don't see one reported yet, but it seems like it. Quickly down 6.7% in heavy volume on otherwise no reported news? It's recovered a bit. It think the low so far today, $24.33, is around the simple 50-day moving average. Either a downgrade or a short attack. or maybe a rumor that there will be no buyout.

Goddamn this thing, comeon private equity. Bid against each other and take this to $35.

    • Apparently PEs have lost interest per DealReporter?. Is this true?

      • Flyonthewall does say that's what DealReporter says. of course, Dealreporter also "reported" in November that private equity was interested. Duh, the company itself put out a release in October saying someone had expressed interest.

And the NY Post said just last Friday, one trading day ago, that first round bids were submitted last week. So this is all just the process, and like I said last week, I am sure bidders are willing to badmouth it.

Of course, comet also touches on a point raised many times: would Lubell really allow a lowball sale. Of course, he doesn't have enough shares to prevent one, but he may have enough friendly directors, not sure (obviously not Bottoli, who apparently is one of the bidders with Advent's backing).

The stock is still within the range it has been in since they announced they were hiring advisors.

    • Naw. Others just realizing what shrewed investors knew all along. Lubell's ego will not allow him to sell the company. Likely returning to teens when all offers are rejected. Sorry.

      • Hmm, well, it hasn't been in the teens for almost 2 years (February 2011), and was just under $21 when they announced they were reviewing options). Given the cash position and the quarterly report since the announcement, and guidance, i don't think it would stay sub $20 long if it went there. Likely just on a panic dump by the buyout arb players and hangers on. It would likely then comeback up after the panic sellers were driven out.

Have to admit I'd be a bit ticked myself if they don't sell.

    • Motley Fool article out today about a possible revenue miss, nothing from company, just a writers analysis.
