You can find stories about how they bought Talbot's at a reduced offer (compared to their earlier offer), or have a $600 mil deal to buy Hot Topic.
Talbots was a consistent money-losing brand, who if I recall correctly, they just managed to scoop after a profitable quarter.
Hot Topic is worth $600 million? Over 30 times earnings according to Yahoo? If it is that's interesting, but Hot Topic is not an international brand.
TRLG doesn't need someone to "rescue" them - they have tons of cash. I'd be happy to continue being a long term holder with no sale of the company. This company did awesome throughout a recession and beginning of a recovery. I look forward to seeing how it does during good economic times. TRLG is not in the same league as the other two companies, so private equity should not have expected to get it on the cheap.
