It's taking me some time to get over the elimination of Tampa Bay. I had the privilege of watching abt a dozen of them develop into NHL players so it was like seeing my hockey sons get beat. In all fairness, Thomas has been phenominal. The game rules keep changing and with every change comes new strategies... knowing the subtle changes makes the game more interesting cause it makes me feel smart...lol. Some fun facts: Bobby Clarke (my favorite player as a child when we lived in Philly) owned the Philadelpia Phantoms of the AHL league.. not sure if he still does. And the goalie that was pulled in the famous 1980 olympic USA vs Russia, he is now a goalie coach for the Black Hawks. Wonder if it bothered him to sign a "Miracle" movie poster for me. Hockey is the number one sport that women prefer....
Like Earl Campbell and Robert Newhouse.
I have spoken to Newhouse a few times. Nice guy, but he is somewhat small. It's hard to believe that at one time each of his thighs were as large as my entire waist.
Then again I have been around Olympic Gymnasts, whom I'm sure were not using steroids. It is amazing how large their upper bodies become relative to their lower bodies.
Easy with the F canada odd! Bruins have 17 of em on the team. Only 3 from the U.S.And Guess where Julien Houda and Jarvis are from? (coaching staff)
The Can. vs U.S is Olympic Hockey. We already played that one. WHat is Staubach on aboot?
OMG did you really just say that? Did you also like football better when they wore leather helmets? Do you not understand the skill required to do what these guys do wearing thin metal blades on a slippery surface. I play ice hockey and nowhere near the level that these guys do but I can tell you they can do more things on ice better than you could do them in street shoes on a dry pavement.
Tim Thomas has been amazing this year, he deserves the Cup. And it deserves to be with an Original Six team. Go Bruins!!! And that's from a life long Ranger fan.
Hockey was supposed to be a cult sport. They tried to make it mainstream like baseball, but it's not working. It's so fast you can't even see the puck and everyone are like world class skaters. It was better back in the day when half of them could barely skate and Gretzky was scoring at will.
Here here!! I remember the days of Orr, Esposito, Cashman, Sanderson,(well, can't remember the rest right now...). Probably the best team to ever skate. And I'm from Michigan and a Redwings fan, but when Howe and the boys played the Bruins I was rooting for the Bruins. Orr was the best of all time imo, including Gretzsky.
And Gayle Sayers was the best running back the NFL has ever had.
Except when the Flyers beat them for the Cup in 74. Bobby Clarke was the heart and soul of the Flyers and his overtime goal was the greatest goal in Flyers history.
I hope the Canucks win. Hockey has changed so much that most of the players are from overseas and the rivalry games are few and far between.
