    • Always keep in mind that deposits are the banks most expensive liabilities and to reduce that liability expense, they simply reduce the interest rates paid which in turn increases their bottom line making the bank more attractive to shareholders. This is an old simple banking rule. Put it to the depositors who continuously support the bank which allows it to stay in business and pay them a token stipend for their support but always give shareholders the most return for their investments.

    • Banks and Government wants to keep money market rate to encourage you to invest in stock market and businesses. Once economy and stock market improves, money market will go up. I think MM will go up after 6 months.

How about investing in HCBK and get 3% dividend (plus any stock price appreciation if you buy it carefully), not to mention obvious - you are free to get out of HCBK without paying any penalty.
