Does HCBK need deposits? HCBK pays what management determines to be the best rate for the business; a rate that will retain deposits or attract deposits depending on current and forecasted needs. From a SHAREHOLDER's standpoint, I'm glad if HCBK pays "low" rates, since they're not needlessly giving MY money away.
Where can one get a good (relative term, but get used to it, rates are NOT going up any time soon) savings rate?
Ally Bank: ally.com
Savings rate is around 80 bps. I've had an account with Ally for almost three years. I pulled just about all of my liquid cash out of Fidelity's Cash Reserves (current yield is 1 bp) and transferred it to Ally; all with a few key strokes. Very easy to manage and I get paid a bit.
GO TO Bankrate.com and you can get rates for every bank in the US. HCBK is a great bank to invest in. The rate of return on your investment in HCBK if you bought the stock last month could be over 10% Now that"s a good return on your money. Investing is not for everyone and it sounds like most posters on this board should not invest untill they know more about the stock markets etc.
