    • customers need!!! .I agree with you,But the blood
      filters its a big winner not just for the costomer but
      the average person ,blood transfusion are safer blood
      banks or blood center are useing palls filters an are
      distributing the blood to hospitals in there area that they
      suport.the QUALITY of this filter is above
      approach,different medical jounals has come out in suport of
      this,filter!!! UPPER MGT!!! there only one upper mgt thats the
      ceo!TERRITORIAL battles, WHY??/ there should not be any
      territorials..... what happen to team work, for example, pres,or sr
      vice pres, of all div,there production mrg, there r+r
      people. PLUS a regular production worker,should have
      meetings to work details ,a cross over of information with
      each other POLITICS remenber upper mgt is only as good
      as the peole under them ,this means at all levels of
      mgt right down to a lead worker&workers the sr vs
      pres in my company walks the floor an talks too all or
      some of his general class workers ,an than to his
      level mgt.he also wants all of his mrg to be open too
      every one,I wonder why he does this, If some one in mgt
      at any level is afraid ,the level of mgt is in
      trouble, all the way to top.

    • I agree on the customer needs!!!but the blood
      filters go farther,it goes to the consumer,too the
      public, the person who need a blood transfusion,too the
      clincial transfer station that handles ,the distribution
      to area hospitals.this is a winner !!!. upper mgt!!
      territorials battles,there should not be terrorials ,if one
      unit div can find or inprove a filter, ,i think you
      ansered your own question JUST IMPROVE YOUR
      QUALITY<working as a team !!!! ceo has too be look at this ,this
      is so simple ,all upper mgts,pres.of all div.an
      there production mrg& r+r person+shop worker.in a
      monthy meeting or every three months . politics on *all
      levels mgt*afraid!!!!your only as good as your people
      under you .the bottom line quality of the productive
      work force under them , the pres of my company takes a
      walk in is work force ,he ask comand question plus
      this happens than four times a year.

    • You want constructive comments, well here they
      are. Make and sell the filters the customers need, not
      whatever filters upper management happens to be having
      territorial battles over. Drop the long-held belief that Pall
      filters are perfect and consistent - perfection is not
      inherent in the filter manufacturing process. Just improve
      the quality. Finally, stop playing politics (on *all*
      levels)-no one can be productive if they are afraid.

    • your right ,but R&D is still going on ,imo
      krasnoff ,is try to add more value to pll. earnings per
      share,this means cuts !!!!.the restructuring done in 3rd qtr
      of 98 + R&D cuts!this all most prove what he is try
      to do.I also think there is somthing going on in the
      fluid processing div ,<r&d>!!!! if you can find
      out anything about this let me know.AND thanks for
      some honest input. this board needs it,

    • I believe Krasnoff was talking about cuts in R&D expenditures. If he was, I do not think R&D can be considered a beneficiary.

    • last 3 years other problems,came up asia,slow
      down in europe ,because of asia currency problem
      .pharmaceutical as been down for 5 years. now you must
      remember,that those still had a 5 0/0 an a 10 0/0 increase. all
      three div were down because above crises ,also blood
      filters is new.its pick up a lot of support by other
      goverments!ALSO MICROELECTRONICS is a lot bigger than you think
      look at asia & europe at that high in of margin.also I
      have not told anybody to buy/sell or hold .I try to
      DEAL WITH FACTS ,AN my RESEARCH!!!!. time will tell .

    • Sounds like great performance. But two points
      worth remembering.

      First, management has not met
      its stated early objectives in years. In the end,
      they may meet their goals this year. But impress upon
      me what is different now versus the last three years
      that makes me want to take a stake in the
      company?

      Second, EPS growth matching profit growth is good??? This
      company has seen margins come down a lot over the last
      three years. It is getting some of that back with the
      restructuring, but this act does not solve the underlying
      reasons margins contracted to begin with, and those
      pressures could re-emerge once the easy restructuring gains
      are passed in 1-2 quarters. If that happens, the
      second half may not see profits keep up with sales
      (similar to pre-restructuring). Further, where is this 15%
      to 20% number coming from? Blood filters are growing
      at that but are lower margin and high-margin
      semiconductor is as well, but is very tiny portion of sales.
      Other businesses (military, pharmaceutical, aerospace,
      etc.) are slower growth and argue for a 5% to 10% sales
      growth in aggregate.

      As I said, I could be wrong.
      But be careful when you are simply taking the work of
      management of this company.

    • Thanks for asking a logicial ????????. in doing
      some research,i found this ! ref=general +
      adminestrative expenses an R&D cost were principal,benificiaries
      of restructuring. that were initiated in last year
      3rd qtr. IMHO: those benefits of of last year 3rd gtr
      restructuring is what we are seeing now
