Unfortuneately, I did a refi with Citigroup three years ago. They have been charging me PMI now for three years, for a house that has over 50% equity. They refuse to remove the PMI charge. When I call them, they cannot give me a straight answer, only to say they will send me a letter. I think I am going to call their call center people and annoy them until this gets resolved.
Should I right my state's attorney general a letter about this?
Just take them to small claims, works wonders. It might never even go to court, but it will get their attention and end the runaround. A friend of mine effectively used this method against Washington Mutual -- got a personal rep assigned within days and had every penny they charged him, interest, penalties, forced insurance, etc. etc. returned. I did it when AT&T Wireless wouldn't do what they were told. Ended up profiting nicely and getting out of the contract with no penalties. Neither case ever went in front of the judge and all expenses were paid by the defendants.
