    Typea -- Strategy...

    Thank you for your response

I see your trades posted in advance and marvel at your consistency, and wonder what you feel is the most important attribute needed to make money in the market?

    • there is no magic formula to make money in the market.

I am a contrarian and try to buy out of favor market leaders when they are near their 52 week low. I calculate what I consider to be fair value and buy on the cheap to give myself a margin of error. Something almost always goes wrong, but if you buy cheap enough, you can still come out ok. It works for me

I think that most people don't make money in the market because they don't have the patience and discipline to stick to a plan. As an example, I posted that I would not buy C unless it got to a fwd pe of <10x. It took a couple of months, but eventually fell to a level that I could buy at

If you start chasing stocks or use fads or gimmicks, you will not consistently make money. You have to be comfortable with what works for you and stick to your plan

I also think that investors need to read 10k reports, annual reports, newspapers, etc and try to keep themselves informed without relying on CNBC

Once I make a profit, I do everything in my power to not loose it. I err on the side of protecting my pricipal as I am retired. If you are younger, you can take more aggressive steps in your trading strategy
