And I disagree with the original post: Yes, there is tons of horse sh!t on these message boards. But sometimes there is intelligent thought...which I truly do appreciate because I am 'investment' ignorant, among many other things. But honestly that's the only reason I am here. So yes, I get sick of the crap here too.
So although I am now participating, why is there so much stuff NOT about C here? I've said it over and over: get a blog, tell your wife, but otherwise get the hell out of here with those posts not related to C.
For the record I am long on C and this is an obligatory comment as proof that I really am not a hyprocrit.
You are right, there are a few people that do post links to interesting articles. I wish there was a way to filter them or give them "authority points" so that I don't have to deal with the "C Rules!" "C Sucks!" "Obama is Hitler" and other crap like that.
No. Politics in particular, is highly subjective. The sources, politicians, are suspect themselves, have hidden agendas, etc so their comments may not reflect their true intentions. Then there are the unintended consequences. Commentors on them also have their own agenda and opinion. Just because it may differ from others doesn't necessarily mean they are uneducated. It's opinion.
Further, the implied original premise is wrong. The board is generally for entertainment. No one has the time or inclination to back up their comments with other sources, double check all facts, have an editor review it, check grammar spelling, and then publish a pristine educational piece.
If you think it is a reference for literature, investing, politics, religion or other subjects, you have a more fundamental problem. Bad source. And all might be better served taking it for what it is and contributing some pearl of wisdom if you're so inclined to make the world a better place.
Of course my posts are all literary perfection and based on nothing but objective undisputable fact.
