It is a mater of converting the cash they recieved from the IPO and investing it into a synergy that works for them. There are lots of possibilities. If they take over someone like Research in Motion (RIMM), this would certainly change the playing field. The company has positive cash flow and stable earnings of which will not go away overnight.
