Apple built its empire by changing the face of digital music, yet many listeners experience poor quality music from their iPods or iPhones. Blame it on the cheap earbuds that they use to pipe their tunes.
Audio-3D Player HD is a new app that has zoomed to the top of the charts on the promise that it will improve the sound quality of music on your iPod or iPhone. The app can customize the listening experience based on the model of headphones you are using. It offers controls that range from pumping up the volume to changing the stereo experience.
HOW IT WORKS: From a list of supported headphones that includes Beats by Dre Skullcandy SKUL -3.78% and the standard issue Apple earphones, choose your model. Hit the play button and it pulls up the list of music on your phone. The 3D mode claims sound quality comparable to that offered by a high fidelity sound system. Other features allow you to boost the volume or change the depth of sound. The app works only on an iPhone 4S, 5 and the latest version of the iPod.
WHO BUILT IT:Jean-Luc Haurais, a 45-year old tech professor from France, wrote the algorithm to manage the sound quality and then got a few developers to create the app around it. This is the third app that Haurais has released around sound enhancement. Haurais says it took him two years to perfect the algorithm.
