Facebook Inc (FB) To Add Videos To Instagram On June 20 [REPORT]
Ingrid Lunden of TechCrunch cited that the information came from a source who claimed that Instagram users will be able to take and share 5 to 10 second videos, which is slightly longer than the 6 minute limit of Twitter’s Vine.
People monitoring developments in the technology industry opined that the integration of a video sharing capability on Instagram is a right move for Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) since Twitter has a video service. However, it is uncertain if the social network giant would actually launch a video service on Instagram during the press event.
Some members of the media described the media invitation of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) as “mysterious,” as the social network giant sent it in a clean white envelope via snail mail. The company usually sends its invitations to the press through e-mail or the Facebook website. The invitation reads, “A small team has been working on a big idea, Join us for coffee and learn about a new product.”
Facebook To Unveil Series Of Features
In a blog post last week, Greg Lindley, product manager of Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB) said the company will be rolling out a series of features to allow people to bring some of the big moments or conversations around them to the forefront. He also emphasized millions of Facebook users are posting something about a television show such as the “Red Wedding” episode of “Game of Thrones,” a hint that a video service is significant.
Lindley said the company will be begin to roll out hashtags on Facebook Inc (NASDAQ:FB). The hash tag is clickable and allows users to “add context to a post or indicate that it is a part of a larger discussion.” The social network giant acknowledges the fact that the feature is not new, but similar to the hashtag function of Twitter, Tumblr, Instagram, and Pinterest.
