I am short FB at $35.30. I am not afraid to say it. Fundamentally, this stock should not be where it is. The numbers are cooked in my honest opinion. We shall see where it goes, and I may end up getting burned, but, I am going with my brain and not heart on this one.
That is the beauty of this game.If all you need is what the brain dictates, then we will not have a difference in opinion because the conventional wisdom say this is supposed to go down now.
hmmm......it's just not a good idea to short a stock like this in this current market environment. It only trades at what...29x 2014 earnings projection? It's really not that expensive and if they can establish themselves as the leader in mobile advertising the sky is the limit....
not to say it will never go back down......but IMO it trades above the IPO price very quickly this week, sometimes these stocks just take off, wallstreet was dramatically underweight this one on earnings and now they are re-loading...
better stocks to short out there, I'm eyeing shorting TSLA at record highs before earnings..
Another proud short here. I admit I didn't win anything on the rally. But I'm pretty sure I can make a few bucks from the correction.
I totally agree with the article on Forbes on accidental clicks on ads.
Anyone got an Android tablet? FB doesn't even have a tablet version for Android. A multi-billion dollar company should do much better than that. Users should use their #$%$ mobile app on high resolution tablets. This way they get more accidental clicks on ads.
Their mobile ad revenue report sounds very suspicious.
Before you go short, you need to ask yourself a simple question. What is the catalyst that will bring this fown before the next earnings release? There is none. This stock will go much much higher in the next few months. Sorry.
Are you doubling down on a short or are you just frustrated you missed the rally and want to get back at the stock by shorting it? You will have to cover at some point, and likely in the high 30s unless you cover today.
I just shorted today...I don't have faith in Facebook. Yes, it is extremely popular, and I admit I have a Facebook account...but, like most people, I go there just to catch up with friends and family and to post pics. I don't click on any of the advertising, and I don't play any games or anything. There is nothing Facebook can sell us. The only reason it became so successful is because it had a better interface than MySpace. Things like this are fads, and one day, maybe sooner than we all think, the new "Facebook" will come out and this one will go down. If they were selling something tangible, then I'd have more faith in it...but they're not.
