All the companies drug, media, internet, energy, all of them consider people as lab rats. I am a physician. So I am sickened by that. FB thinks people will leave everything else in their life and will look at the FB page, and roll through adds. I mean come on people. Maybe if you have a phone and in prison yes maybe.
Since you can't do anything about the masses(?), you'll just have to make sure that you don't fall into the lab rat group. Like (actual...not facebook like) things because they appeal to you, not cause they're popular. No reason to be sickened by FB or even take it too seriously. I've historically defined it as a "digital soapbox for boring narcissists". Nobody worthwhile spends a significant amount of time on it, anyway. Just people trying to convince you their life is more exciting than it actually is. They're not about to buy anything anyway. Typically, they don't have much money. But, the FB sales team is apparently pretty good at giving the pitch to stupid Marketing types. Impossible it goes on forever...or even too much longer. The whole market is due for a BIG correction. This is 2002 all over again.
The only thing that makes me a little ...sad...is that all this social media nonsense has led to a whole generation of people having know clue how rare real friends are. But silly sentimentality has no business in the same place as my money. Still, I wouldn't put it here. If you think institutionals are done dumping volume to "get out clean", you need your head examined.
