    Rockstar New England job cuts

    TTWO has a *lot* of studios, and you can probably get a full list via their site or 10K, so the average headcount is probably 100 or less. I've long said this is a problem for them because a game may start with 10-15 people and peak out at 100-150. If the entire studio is mostly or fully dedicated to one project that's a lot of mouths to feed in the early stages of the next project. It's not practical to lay off and re-hire due to the overhead and risks of that approach, not to mention the bad reputation they'd end up with locally. You can share those staff if e.g. different studios share the same engine (like the Rockstar studios sharing RAGE), but that presents its own problems - remote management, communication, overhead and inconvenience of bringing them local, etc. Rockstar could certainly consolidate some studios. Like do they need a Rockstar Toronto *and* Vancouver, instead of just Vancouver? 2K Marin and VC instead of one 2K studio? Rockstar North, Leeds and London all in the UK instead of North + Leeds, or just North? New England + Boston, really?
