OT: What do you guys think will happen with Washington DC?
Right after Obama spoke, Boehner said he will not do an unconditional deal. Seems both sides are stuck, and nether want to give in. I'm guessing if they give in they feel they have lost and egos are more important. I could see this lasting a long long time, like months.
I'm not asking who is right or wrong just does anyone see how this is going to get solved?
I do not believe they will let us default. IMO it plays out much like in 2011 with a last second deal. This could still have some pretty adverse short term effects on the market like the last "correction" in 2011 though. Then, in my opinion, the fed continues to pump money into the market and QE lasts much longer ~
There is absolutely no way there will be a default. There is a better chance of an asteroid destroying earth tonight. Its not "if" its "when" and i expect a deal late this week early next week. When people cant get passports and govt contractors dont get paid they can deal with it for a couple weeks which is how long govt shutdowns last. 2-3 weeks maximum.
Ty I think you underestimate the situation Boehner is in. If he puts this up for a vote he has a 99% chance of losing face and the speakership. One only needs to look at the orange glow to realize he is wayyy too into himself to let this happen. Obama....well I think he looks and says the only thing I got passed in the years elected and they want to take that too? Anything in context of obamacare is a non starter. I've read much on the man and he loves Lincoln. Lincoln did somethings that were the right thing to do.....even when it was extremely unpopular. Obama sees Congress as holding a president hostage with debt limits and fiscal cliffs. He's putting a stop to it now and for ALL times. Whether you like it or not. The only way a deal gets done IMO.....Boehner swallows his pride and speakership and passes a clean bill and hope that's enough to bargain one last time for the debt ceiling with the promise this will never happen again. But, I think it's all on Boehner.(not in a good or bad way...just saying apolitically....it's riding on him). The tea party is the one thing that is the unknown variable here. Can they compromise any of their principles for the good of the country.......no one knows that??
Yeah, I don't think the Chamber of Commerce & other business organizations are happy with this nonsense. I wonder what the GOP would think if Nancy Pelosi closed down the government after a tax-cut bill?
