Commentary on both sides of every question can be found every day. As one who has been at this for a while all I can say is to satisfy yourself, read the cr*p for information purposes but do so critically and even then only as one more opinion.
Everyone has an agenda! lol
So free speech should not be allowed if it concerns your favorite stock?
In that case, positive articles should be disallowed too, along with message boards like this because people actually express opinions on them.
We would end up with no information at all.
they admit when asked about tips or sources: "OK: We might get a tip from a short-seller or company critics. But then, it’s just as accurate to say stories come from anyone and anywhere, and as often as not, from a plain old hunch or long standing interest someone at SIRF has."
this has nothing to do with free speech. it is illegal to manipulate stock prices. did you read the article?? it smelled of a short seller hit piece. it was long and shallow but made to look like they specifically did all this research - it was intended to compel and scare people into selling and it was broadly published - not some single guy on a stock board - SA brags about how much their articles influence stock prices. everyone is entitled to their opinion but that hit piece was not mere opinion or for that matter even "research" - it reads like a vendetta. it contained nothing of substance or any evidence of wrongdoing or any real facts addressing fundamentals
