Supporting the NFL for Super Bowl in 2015 to the Tune of a MILLION BUX

My electric utility is a non-regulated quasi-governmental entity that sets its own rates and spends its revenues as it chooses. (I won't waste your time explaining how this all came about.)

Its CEO is on the Super Bowl 2015 Host Committee. The Board of Directors of the electric utility will vote on Monday to DONATE $1,000,000.00 to the NFL to put on Super Bowl in 2015. Utility customers pay for their electricity based upon whatever rates the entity chooses to charge and we have no recourse or appeal. This supposedly non-profit electric utility manages to find and commit a million bux to give to the NFL whose owners are billionaires and mega-multimillionaires to sponsor a football game?

How do the elites in a once-great nation in major decline continue to squander millions of bux when their customers can barely afford to keep the lights and heat on!

What possible reasonable justification can be given to spend that money for a sporting event? The outfit doesn't need publicity or public relations in order to get customers. The customers exist and are coming; we have NO choice on whose electricity we buy; if you are in a designated area covered by the utility company, you MUST take your electricity from them or generate your own. There is no other utility company authorized to compete.

We are stupid, and getting stupider. All IMHO.

ACE: There are no jokers in my deck.
