I have tried other ISP's, and AOL has been the premier provider. Yes, It's access problems were very bad when I joined it last year. But, it's reactions to those problems have been extraordinary! I bought a large (gulp) interest very recently on the belief it's going to be the Microsoft of the ISP sector. If you think AOL has weak service, try any others, including Compuserve!

      • I use earthlink as well and it's a fine ISP, but
it has no content. At some point AOL will be able to
leverage its content in the way it leverages its
subscriber base. The free content available on the web, such
as this and other investment boards, is pathetic.
Real discussions about investing don't happen here
because there are so many assholes who think they can
influence a stock's movement through hyperbolic postings.
Anyone who reads these boards for anything but
entertainment -- the kind of entertainment one gets by reading
books on abnormal psychology -- is naive, to say the
least. Look at Silicon Investor and The Street. For
about $10/month you can carry on relatively informed
conversations and avoid the idiots and charlatans.

have many friends and relatives who use AOL. Most of
them aren't computer geeks and that's a good thing.
AOL is building its business on people whose lives do
not revolve around computers, which is the majority
of computer users. What these people want is
content. And that's what AOL gives them. This is where the
        growth is. (EOM)
