The Dogs of the Dow Theory 101
"Dogs of the Dow" are the ten
stocks with the
highest dividend yield
among the thirty blue-chip
comprise the Dow Jones Industrial
Average. Stocks with a relatively high
are often considered to be
out of favor in the
marketplace - thus the
O'Higgens popularized the
strategy in his 1992 book
titled Beating the
Dow. The strategy calls for
dollar amounts in each of the top
"Dogs", and holding them for one year.

subscribers (read that as households) plus 2 million
Compuserve customers. Assuming that each household has 4
family members, that's more like 160 million eyeballs
which will likely double within 3 or 4 years.
