    shorts and puts

do companies have to allow these types of transaction? or is there a way a company can refuse to allow them. This question does not concern HT but I am not knowledgeable on it. I have been to other message boards and people posts complaints, etc. about shorting a stock and driving prices. If this is true, does a company have to register with the SEC to allow this or is this automatically legal if a company is publicly traded? Thanks

    • Most of us own stocks held by the brokerage, who can loan them to short sellers. Can we tell our brokerage not to loan our shares? I think I will ask my broker. You can too.

I wish they would outlaw short sales. Brokerage's make money doing this and the people who own the shares get *****ed.
