AMD announced this morning that ATI will stop supplying Intel chipsets according to a CNBC.
ATI patents are used in Intel chipsets and GPUs. AMD ownes those patents now, and Intel will have to cease production of graphics chipsets and be forced out of the graphics business all together. Intel is fukked.
You might want to do a little research. ATI operates under INTC chipset licencing deals. INTC can pull those licences at any time. In addition INTC has it's own graphic chip design that does not require any licence from ATI or anyone else.
" INTC integrate's graphics that are about as good a ATI's."
Yea, this is why Intel systems use both ATI and NVDA GPUS. With ATI gone NVDA is in much stronger position with Intel now ( = higher prices). Intel has been always short or in problems with chipsets. Now, suddenly, one of the chipset suppliers just disappeared. Can't be good for Intel.
