AMD makes a great product, pretty much equal to anything that Intel puts out CPU wise at a 35% discount but Wall Street Hates them. I have a Intel and a AMD system I built and like them both equally.
With Intel having a 3 to 5 year lead in technological adavance, AMD cannot afford to mess up with fabrication.
They have no control over their manufacturing it looks like. So even at these cheap levels, I cannot buy this stock.
Agreed. What AMD did was like having a 500 meter sprinter in the Olympics stop to tie his shoes in the middle of the race, when he's already behind.
Oh, by the way, AMD has contracts to make chips for the new XBox, Playstation and Wii. I bet Microsoft, Sony and Nintendo are sweating bullets today. Especially Nintendo, their new Gameboy 3D introduction got no traction and now the product is discounted. They can't afford a poorly performing supplier.
AMD throughout it's history has known how to do one thing very well, and that is to lose money. The company is unmanageable, and they have no prayer of catching up to Intel. All of this points to one thing, HP is probably thinking about buying AMD.
