I recently switched from iPhone 3GS to Samsung Galaxy S II Skyrocket. I find that battery is draining 2.5X faster for similar tasks. I also hear from friends that iPhone 4S is no great either (even after s/w fix). Where is ARM's power efficiency? With today's task intensive smartphones, ARM processors are no longer so power efficient. ARM's battery life advantage against Intel is already gone to a large extent. Still ARM fans are refusing to acknowledge this change and trying to harp on the old outdated fact.
Yes. I know iPhone3 is ARM. What I want to say is that the real test of ARM's power efficiency is coming in todays heavy duty smartphones (whether iPhone4S or Andriods), and ARM's power efficiency advantage is no longer holding good.
