Paul Otellini's interview on CNNfn/Fortune causing breakout
Otellini mentions about Intel doing a pivot after Nokia debacle last year and getting ready for "multiple phone" launches on Medfield by Q2. Says Intel is in a much better position now being able to target more OEMs with Android than it was with Nokia/MeeGo.
Intel's periodic buybacks are more likely responsible especially if the buyback occurs when the stock is near a multi-million share resistance point like 26, 27 etc. That's why it doesn't really matter if the stock fails to break a large resistance the first time around, it will break it later if it is near it again. IBM have been using the same strategy successfully for years. Buybacks work, they just have to be large and given time to work.
Yup. The MSFT/Nokia divorce literally cost Intel 1.5 to 2 years of market time. In retrospect, it might have been the best thing to happen to Intel as it took that time to complete redesign medfield for mobile. We're now starting to see how superior intel designs are to ARM designs in every way.
