Hi Ashraf, i love reading your articles. I find them so informative . I am a chip designer myself. Just one question i had for you. If Intel's single core Atom solution that has currently gone into Intel powered smartphones is so compelling for performance/watt perspective, why isnt Intel being able to grab a bigger share of the smartphone market ? Is it just a matter of time to build mindshare or is it something else ?
1. Intel's chips have just been released, so it takes time for them to get designed into new devices.
2. Lack of LTE. In 1H 2013, Intel will be out with a dual core version of medfield along with its own XMM 7160 LTE baseband/radio. This will allow Intel to finally penetrate the US, which is very much LTE-focused.
