Bear in mind, this rumor is just what some guy at RBC Capital thinks. Of course, that doesn't make it wrong.

It would be nice if it is possible. I don't know how you put such a deal together given the nightmarish web of "non-compete" clauses. Obviously INTC wants to move ahead on Motorola/Google phones.

You forgot that INTC is already supplying processors to AAPL for their Mac Book Pros. Pretty well shoots that nightmare in the head. I don't think they built all that exces capacity for nothing. AAPL announcement will come at the last minute and the 12-14 months lead time started when AAPL won the lawsuit against Samsung (Deal in my opinion was signed then and prep began for AAPL fabing). No one can believe AAPL didn't have a backup plan especially when Samsung just increased their prices to AAPL by 20%

Don't forget CSCO 1 billion fab partnership with INTC rumor last month. Funny how no one follows up on that. Only negative news to shake the remaining weak hands out and allow the big boys to load up.

CARIS dropped the Intel price target to $23 from $26 this morning. They kept their ABOVE AVERAGE rating on the stock.
We have yet to hear from Romit Shah of Nomura yet. Intel has got near his target so I expect he will announce a downgrade to SELL (what he has had for the last 2 years) and lower the target to the GS $16. Romit can't let anyone have a lower price target.
