As you can see from the android benchmarks list below (browserDOTprimatelabsDOTcom/android-benchmarks) the results aren't great. At first I thought it may be because it's running emulated ARM code (which I guess, is still possible) but the tests do say "Geekbench 2.3.4 for Android x86" and the single threaded results are in line with the Clovertrail (Z2760) on Windows 8 (which are around the 1400 mark).

Obviously some tweaking is needed for the newly released Android 4.04 version for Intel based processors. This cannot possibly be due to some hardware deficiency.

Seriously, there is some scope for these benchmarks to be suspect. Geekbench is cross platform so you can compare the results to clovertrail on windows 8. If the scores are comparable, then they are legitimate (and likely very little can be done to optimize the scores as they are reasonably low level).
