Several articles today saying TSMC will get next iPhone contract and recently Mark Bohr stated:
Separately, Bohr said Intel does have a growing foundry business that may include some higher volume applications than its current announced customers like FPGA startup Achronix. My take on this argument is basically Intel won't fab for just anyone, like TSMC. Something is in the works, whether it is Apple or Cisco, somebody is jumping into bed with Intel.

Why was Bohr so deferential on the AAPL deal saying that INTC would never have a very large fab operation ?

Because he was backing the losing side in the power struggle at Intel. Yes--the CPUs are great BUT Paul O was saying Intel would not this and that but now--just last week--Paul O says Intel will fab for the RIGHT company or companies.
When asked about the fab deals he said that of course Intel could not announce a deal early since a company it would fab for would be using another company up until it switches to Intel as its fab.
