Why is Intel wasting time & $$ on virtual TV??

Another 1 of Paul O's stupid ideas. It will never work - there are too many barriers. Even Apple cant get it to work. In the meantime, he completely missed mobile. This CEO has done nothing but destroyed Intel's shareholder value. he should have been fired years ago.

Too early to call the winners and losers don't you think?

      • I feel the same way Gregory. Intel's set-top sounds to me is like it goes a couple of steps above Apple's iTV and other streaming devices.

        1) it offers streaming services such as Netflix, hulu. And it probably has movie rental service as well. However it goes a couple of steps above this:
        2) Allows customer to pick which TV channels they want rather than the bundle packages offered by cable providers. This make sense because most people don't even touch half the channels that are in some of those bundles.
        3) offer cloud-based DVR; so you don't even have to remember to set the recordings or take up local hard drive space.

It sounds interesting and we should learn more about it at CES.

    • One of the CC cos. where I live is playing with the pick channels from a menu idea already. They would allow you to access past shows too. AND to fight Apple ? I just bought Intel and then I read this story about the intel tv. It is like soon as I buy them they warn or something like this. I will like the dividend, that seems pretty safe. I want to get some QCOM too...down the road. Maybe some Apple under 500 ?

      Sentiment: Strong Buy
