Apple Plans iPhones In More Sizes, More Colors, Analyst Says
I would not count out a Intel-inside (Haswell) 'MacPad' from Apple either. If Apple does not include a touch-enabled convertible PC, they would isolate Mac users who have been using a MacBook with Bootcamp to run windows software when needed. With Windows 8 supported touch, Apple must respond and create device to support it. The multi-platform support offered by the MacBook is one of the reasons why they are so popular.
I agree that those might be the right strategies given the turn of events with Windows 8 and the rapid adoption of touch across form factors specially in the PC space, but Apple is not a company that listens to their customers. Rather, they dictate terms and from the looks of it, at least in the short term, their customers are going to be left behind in the race because they cant access their devices in natural and efficient ways. The iPad is the only exception to this rule.
