Tools, it doesn't matter how many Windows 8 "licenses," have been sold

What matters is how many units ship.

And, despite the fluffed up number of licenses sold, the adoption rate for Windows 8 is STILL LOWER than Vista. This is why you tools are losing money on this stock. You simply don't understand the market.

    • It doesn't matter how many Win8 shipped. The important number for Intel will be how many CPU did they ship and what mix. Why would someone buy Win8 over an installed version of Win7 or some other OS?

There is only one reason that I can think of: touch input. Touch input really requires a new system. Few people will have the time or energy to install Win8 and then slog through V1.0 software bugs.

There will be 380m PC shipped in 2012. A linear run rate would be 95m per quarter.
60m Win8 shipped in Q4 which is 2/3 of that number.

      Win7 systems shipped = ???
      Win8 systems shipped = ???
      LInux systems shipped = ???
bare-bones, no OS systems shipped = ??? (I bought one of these in Q3)
      MacOS systems shipped = ???
