terrible CEO. Didnt have a creative new idea in his entire tenure. Went by the book & shareholders paid for it. He kept saying last night that manufacturing is Intel's biggest asset, yet he never understood how to monetize it. Totally missed mobile. He let Nokia & Microsoft totally screw Intel. I hope we have a much better CEO to follow him.
That's not completely accurate. In his tenure he crushed the AMD threat created in the Craig Barrett era with Conroe, Nehalem, Sandy Bridge and Ivy Bridge. Agreed, he had many missteps in mobile. His biggest mistake was putting Sean Maloney in charge of the company's mobile effort which resulted in a decade of wasted effort and money. Otellini did ultimately rectify that problem but the mistake cost Intel dearly and put it behind schedule. Now it's costing Intel more to compensate for the lost time. Fortunately they are profitable enough to afford mistakes but this was one they didn't need.
