    Getting Chippy Out There

And it's no surprise. With the tipping point being reached with ARM and Intel, the ARM crowd is none too happy to be feeling like they are under siege. Well, they are under siege. Intel has a year of good news to look forward to while ARM has a year of bad news to look forward to, much of it with Bubble popping import.

ARM Bad News on the Horizon:

    Dropping ASPs
    Dropping margins
    Dropping profits
    No Windows RT traction
    No server traction
No 20nm volume production until 2014/2015
    Only a half-step to 14nm planned
No 14nm half-step production for years and years since it is based on 20nm production that won't arrive for years
    Shrinking funding
More complex nodes requiring higher costs and more IDM type activities
Smaller number of designs available at each node
    Manufacturing capacity bottlenecks
And much more competition from Intel

Intel Good News on the Horizon:

Haswell arrives in June, signaling a change in leadership in power efficiency
Intel tablets expected to be a huge success in the IT and enterprise environment
Huge manufacturing capacity available to make some really big deals
14nm volume production by the end of the year
Potential game-breaking deals with Cisco, Apple and Web TV
Increasing traction in mobility with new SOCs and exciting new products

Look for the chippiness to continue and grow as Intel's big guns come on line...

    Sentiment: Strong Buy
