Intel is about to do to the smartphone CPU marketplace what they did to server CPU marketplace not long ago. Intel once did a brisk business selling CPUs primarily for desktop machines and had a small portion of the server market. Intel now has 95% of the global server market for CPUs, much of that serving mobil devices. Now the company is 2-3 generations ahead of the world in mnfg technology, is using FINFET transistors in production, and will soon be building massive 450 mm wafers. Watch this space. The company reinvents itself continuously and is about to do it - again.
