Trust me, the only way that Apple uses Intel chips is if our new CEO is from outside Intel. You have to realize that the two cultures really clash. Jobs thought that Intel was slow to react (he was unfortunately correct) and the Inel culture was very stodgy and slow to innovate. Having said this, Tim Cook is under tremendous pressure to produce better results for Apple. If he could cut a good "win-win" deal with our new CEO, it might fly. I fear that Stacy will be in the chairman's chair in June

I think you're misjudging the Intel/Apple relationship and you're misjudging Intel design capabilities.
Any Intel/ Apple deal would be a compromise
20nm is probably gone but I always thought 14nm/450mm would or could be a turning point.
450mm is the next big #$%$ to turn cost down and Intel could have a 2 to 3 year lead
