All about the differential. Why? Because the differential represents recognition of the tipping point and the end of the ARM era.It represents Intel's move into mobility. 2013 continues to be the Year of the Intel Tablet, which gets demonstrated more every day and 2014 will be the Year of the Intel Smartphone with the arrival of Intel's 14nm FinFET and Airmont.
Intel was down by 66 cents today, exceeded by ARM being down by 1.37, resulting in a positive differential for Intel of 71 cents. ARM has now dropped 20 percent since May 16th, primarily due to looming competition with Intel.
Intel continues to get huge positive press out of Computex and new product announcements and this helps most where it counts - with consumers. We'll have the important Mac upgrades next week and then the Samsung event on the 20th where we might even get announcement of an Intel/Samsung smartphone. So, the press cycles are just going to keep coming in. Consumers are going to hear tons about Intel and almost nothing about ARM.
Another really good day for Intel. Even with a terrible market day, Intel racks up another solid, substantial differential. The tipping point has arrived.
Good summary Wallis. I would also add, aside from Haswell intro and Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 win, the other big news was the availability of the XMM 7160 for LTE 4G support. Since the XMM 7160 is inside the Galaxy Tab 3 10", we now know with certainty that Intel has LTE 4G support and can make it available for all future products.
