And This Is The End (of ARM)

    Marsavian:

The slowest entry model Bay Trail is basically twice as fast (averaged over both single and multi-core) as its immediate predecessor which is exactly what Intel promised and in floating point as well as integer which means Avoton may get the HPC crowd's attention too. It also means there is a very strong likelihood that their low power claims will be true too. An event similarly to that Russian Meteor grazing the Earth is about to happen to the ARM World. It means that with Haswell and Silvermont Intel will have all the market covered with the best quality products and once there is enough volume of both in vendors hands revenue will start increasing again as will the share price here.

We now have a 1.8 GHz single memory channel Z3770(D) model reading on Android.

Here's some observations ..... against the 2.4 GHz model on Windows it is slower in integer as expected but wins well in FP in nearly all subtests which just shows how bad the Windows 32-bit FP compile options are in Geekbench2 !!

      browser.primatelabs dotcom/geekbench2/compare/2259353/2226937

Against 2 GHz Clovertrail+ it is twice as fast in both integer and FP as Intel claimed and this remember is only the 1.8 GHz Bay Trail model.

      browser.primatelabs dotcom/geekbench2/compare/2259353/2161128

against the AMD A4-5000 (i.e half a Jaguar console chip) it is broadly equivalent in integer.

      browser.primatelabs dotcom/geekbench2/compare/2259353/2139838

Against the Snapdragon 1.9 GHz Krait S600 it is faster in integer (and non buggy FP) and against 2.3 GHz S800 about the same so the base 1.8 GHz Bay Trail is roughly equivalent in performance to the 2.3 GHz S800.

      browser.primatelabs dotcom/geekbench2/compare/2259353/2063809

Against A15 it is roughly equivalent in integer and superior in non-buggy FP

      browser.primatelabs dotcom/geekbench2/compare/2259353/2025974

In conclusion the base 1.8 GHz Bay Trail is competitive with every known competitor in all round compute performance and the 2.4 GHz top model should become the leader.
