New Intel CEO needs to cut 20-30% of the workforce
Seriously, Intel's costs/expenses are not matching its growth rate. I hope the new CEO would have the guts to announce big layoffs. With little/no growth projected for the next few years, that's the only thing I can see to generate EPS growth & a rise in share price. See Cisco for a playbook.
I don't think your assumption about Intel's future growth is correct, but on a revenue per employee basis I believe Intel is far less efficient than it used to be. I agree that some fat could be trimmed from the ranks. One area that comes to mind is the Media Group. After several years of effort and expense we still don't see a product in the marketplace, let alone one that is compelling, competitive and has a future.
