250 million shares shorted and no volume on a big down day. Gotta wonder how much longer this will last. Sooner or later somebody is going to start buying to cover or buy because the low price beckons them. The question is when? Gotta admit those shorts have bigger stones than me, especially with the dividend coming due.
The interesting thing is that the share price hasn't dropped much, the stock is stuck in a trading range. In order for shorts to make more money, the price has to continually drop, which it has not. So, if the share price continues to be stuck, the shorts aren't going to be making much more. They must be expecting a large drop in share price sometime in the near future either due to externalities or further large shorting. If that does occur, perhaps then Intel will start repurchasing shares.
Which one's are trapped? The one's that shorted at 70, 60, 50, 40, 30 or 25? Surely you aren't trying to pass some gargabe theory that all shorts initiated their postions at 19. Then again, you would try to pass that off.
