I'm guessing that, when Apple comes out with its new iPad later this
year, sales charts of other tablets will show a steep decline. Last
year Apple sold 74 million iPads, so 40 million is a bit of a stretch.
According to Gartner, 195 million tablets were sold in 2013 and Android topped the list for the first time, outselling Apple’s range of iPad tablets nearly twofold. Of the 195 million tablets sold in 2013, Android took nearly 62% of sales on 121 million tablets, while Apple sold 70 million iPad tablets for a 36% share.
What do you envision a new iPad having that would reverse Apple's share decline? Besides the most important development in tablets since this report was issued are the Windows 2-1s. They are a huge step up from iPads and Androids for office productivity and they offer impressive value.
