With all the cash in the world, Qualcomm's CPU R&D couldn't keep up with modern CPU architecture.
They have abandoned their own Krait CPU, and will now use CPU cores from ARMH.
It is truly sad that Qualcomm has completely capitulated on CPU R&D.
Only a matter of time before they capitulate on the GPU.
ARM architecture has plateaued, and the incremental gains are not worth the R&D spend. Speed to market, is what is important with Mediatek and Allwinner pumping out new versions every six months. Besides 64 bits are now all the rage and QCOM is way behind in 64bits.
QCOM has to keep up with these speed to market demons.
