Your Picture -- "100 People in an Office
environment with open cubes all talking to their computers.
Do you think that will Happen? I don't. Voice will
have its place, but not in the Volume
My Picture -- Sit down at your PC and say "schedule
John, Bill, and Joe for a video conference at 10am to
walk through 2001 sales presentation."
gets notified of the 10am meeting, the sales
presentation is routed to all automatically, at 10am all
parties are automatically called and connected to the PC
video conference, 3 faces appear on the left side of
your screen with the sales presentation on the right,
someone says they like blue with a red logo instead, you
say "change all backgrounds to blue...change all
logos to red", everyone likes it, you say "send to all
sales reps" and the new presentation is sent
automatically to 200 sales reps around the world.
Looks like a nice wish list. I'm interested in
AMAT, but I expect
it to go lower than $22. Intel's
$58 might be reach in July or
August. AMAT's low
in Sept (historical the lowest BTB ratio
achieved during Sept and report during Oct.).
expect to nibble at Intel in the low 60's.
Voice needs CPU, especially
Video phoning needs CPU if you want full screen, but
especially needs ISDN, but that's no problem.
needs CPU, very much !
Web servers needs
DVD needs CPU, a PII-400 is just good
Archiving needs CPU
3D Virtual world animation, or
3D surfing needs very fast CPU
publishing in high resolutions definitly needs much
CAD-CAM always needs top of the bill CPU
doing 4 jobs on one computer needs CPU: So doing BATCH
jobs together with working needs CPU: Think of
automatic backup, making index on content of files on your
harddrive, and automaci polling for email on server,
automatic skimming internet for news and so on....
Buyers would wear headsets i am sure. I agree
though and I really don't see voice recognition as
reality, how would it handle all the differences. Dough,
as in the dough knob or as in bread dough<G>.
just an example, no need for anyone to come unglued
