just listened to the conf. call at
i honestly don't understand the
negativity - way overdone - excellent buy opp. intc execs.
were as relaxed as can be, and stuck to their
"seasonality" story like glue despite being pressed repeatedly.
they were also strongly indicating the normal
seasonally stronger 2nd quarter. also indicated asp's as
stable as a rock despite all the myths about the dreaded
low priced pc.
1) PIII SALES ACCELERATE IN Q3 AND Q4. (Why?
Because clock speeds head north of 750mhtz, AND you get
RDRAM and CAMINO chip sets to make it hum even faster.
PII uses get PIII envy. They realize PII 233 is a
2) PIII AND PIII XEON IMPROVE MARGINS EVEN MORE!
(It's amazing how little is made of INTC's astonishing
profit margings -- even in Q2, even in a transition
period with PIII's only slightly faster than PII!)
4) SUBBIES ACCELERATE WORLD-WIDE
COMPUTER PENETRATION, CREATING
VAST NEW MARKET FOR
INTERNET SERVERS AND WORKSTATIONS. (No one comes CLOSE to
U.S. PC penetration. But they WILL! Thank you
5) NT 5.0! (It will be HUGE! Expected to hit in

7) DSL! (Say hello to Intel Proshare
Videoconferencing Technology! Remember when a fax machine was a
novelty at the office?)
Longs may have to wade
through Q2 this year. The herds have stampeded out of the
feast and left the banquet to the brokerage houses!
After they had their fill on INTC at depressed levels,
the upgrades will come. All of a sudden, people will
realize, as they do EVERY Q3, that INTC is one hell of a
money machine and growth engine. See you at the party!
Kumar predicted that analysts may slightly tweak
their estimates to reflect slightly lower-than-expected
revenues in the second quarter but he doubted that
earnings per share forecasts would change much. He also
noted that the second quarter is typically Intel's
weakest quarter of the year.

AMD will probably not catch up to Intel as much
as previously thought. I think that Intel will slow
in the second half along with the rest of the
market, but Windows 2000 and lower PIII prices should get
Intel at least double by 2001. Check out the free
