    Elon-nomics 1.01 ==== == Free superchargers

    (( That drives the cost of each station up to $250,000, but Musk says the solar panels will pay for themselves in a few years ))

    I think this speaks for itself. Tesla is a scam run by an Ego maniac and the greenie-media NEVER questions any of his wild proclamations.

    • Looked at another way, does anyone know what a third-party charges for a "fill-up" using a Level-3 charger (480 volts) and can you standardize it to cents/kwh? Also, why wouldn't Tesla allow someone with a Leaf plug in (using a credit card) so as to defray Tesla's fixed costs?

      As far as solar panels, keep in mind here in Southern California you hit a 26 cents/kwh level at 400 kwh/month (it's 14-17 cents/kwh below that) so if you use Economics 101 and solar panels are 21 cents/kwh (about the cost?) you add enough solar panels so you never have to cut a check to your utility for anything over 400 kwh/mth.

        If I undertsand your theory - Tesla is saving 6 cents per KWh by using solar panels.

        But they are giving the juice away for free and the solar panels will never pay for themselves.

        BTW Walgreens was charging $2 per hour for a level two charger and the greenies complained about the cost.

    • Maybe Musk was talking as the Chairman of SolarCity's Board. He and Gracias are on both TSLA's and SCTY's boards; Straubel who is in charge of the SuperChargers for Tesla (which are being installed by SolarCity) is also on SCTY's board. No one cares about the potential for a conflict of interest until one or both (now public) company' share price collapses, then watch the plaintiffs' bar torture the wounded.

        You mean Kimbal isn't in on that sacam? Just kidding.

        Back to Elon's economic breakthrough. I am wondering about something. If a few solar panels can generate $250,000 of revenues in a "few years" then why doesn't everyone have them.

        Oh I know. Elon is a genius and the entire corporate world is run by feeble minded inbreds.
        I am totally comvinced now and I will sel all of my Exxon shares and buy Solyndra.
