I'm an engineer and have been watching Tesla with considerable interest for a while. I finally took the plunge and bought one in March. Are there issues with the car, sure... a few minor ones. But, when it comes to what matters - how it looks, drives, features and functionality it is a screaming HOME RUN. This is absolutely the coolest car on the planet. Overall, I could not be happier. Is the car expensive? Absolutely. This was not a small expenditure for me. Up till now, I have been driving mainly Toyotas. But, I have gotten to the point of being able to afford a nice car and up until about 6 months ago, was figuring it would probably be either a BMW or Audi.
The car is just so compelling in so many ways... incredible performance (0 to 60 in about 5 sec)... a beautiful and well designed computer interface.. an amazing amount of cargo space. No kidding, it's over 55 cubic feet! I could on and on.
When you think about how Tesla has replaced a huge, inefficient, polluting, noisy engine with a motor smaller than a beer keg and battery pack on the bottom, isn't it a huge Duh, this is way better?! When I watch car commercials now and they talk about their "leading edge technology" it makes me laugh. So after owning the car for a week, I bought some TSLA.
I want to pose a question to the CEOs of the other car companies... Have you driven this car? If not, why not? If so, are you extremely impressed and maybe a little scared? While I completely appreciate that Elon & Co. still have a massive hill to climb in taking on the entrenched competitors and more importantly the masses that consider it expensive and are nervous about the whole EV shift (range anxiety, charger availability, etc.). Not a huge price for what I believe is the future of the automobile.
If you don't want any more "insults", you should behave accordingly yourself. What goes around comes around.
I drive a current model Mercedes as well. Is it a nice car? Absolutely. Does not mean that a Tesla cannot compete with it however.
Does Mercedes have an E420? I don't know but when I googled it, it did come up. It looks like there WAS an E420. Chassis code is 124.034. Available in the 1990's when you were director of marketing in the northeast.
Seethelong, sorry to burst your bubble. Do you have any idea how long ago Mercedes stopped producing the 420 SEL? Plus, Mercedes never produced an E420! If you ever drove a Mercedes, much less owned one, you'd know. There was/is an E300, E320, E350, and E500. yep! You've driven an E420. LOL!
Yeah, I know someone who just took delivery of theirs a few weeks ago and I know someone else who is anxiously awaiting theirs as well. So far, he is in love with the car. He raves about everything, and everyone that he has let take it for a spin is in love with it too. I think they have a winner here!
I'll be honest, I was completely skeptical about Tesla, but after checking them out in the show room and doing a little bit of research, and knowing people that are completely satisfied up to this point, I think they will be very successful. I ended up buying some stock a while back ago in the 20's. I hold everything long-term, so will be interesting to see how things progress for Tesla.
