just imagine if many of those "100,000 signatures" each owned 100 shares of Tesla stock... that's 10,000,000 shares of stock ...like better than the "average daily float"...(lots of people are Tesla owners or potential buyers...buying 100 shares of stock is nothing to me... so I'm sure there are plenty of people in the same circumstances...that buy or plan to buy a Tesla...
then imagine besides that roughly 70% of the stock was "already owned by big money"...(mutuals, etc.)
well - I'm not saying this is exactly the case - but if it is anywhere near "ballpark" ...then it should be obvious to you "number crunchers" that Tesla probably has "such vast support" THAT ALMOST EVERYTHING ELSE IS IRRELEVANT (ya know near-term earnings, recalls, whatever... (then there are also other large potential players that can come in...)
so, "crunch your numbers" ...get analysts to "write negative articles"...SEE HOW LITTLE ALL THAT MIGHT MATTER... (so why does it have such support... well it's simple... IT'S AN IDEA WHOSE "TIME HAS COME"...gonna happen... NO MATTER "WHO SAYS WHAT to the CONTRARY"...
that's about the size of it...
It still dont mean squat compared to combined auto industry giants Ford GM Chrysler Honda Kia etc put together compared to them its a drop in the bucket like the article said the chances of instant change in dealer asociation structure is 0 to none. Just another greedy bagholder why not quit while your way ahead remember hogs get slaughtered.
I suggest that you email your governor, state legislators and members of Congress. Let them know that the goal of 100,000 signatures on a White House petition favoring direct sales and service of cars has been achieved. Here is the petition link: wh.gov/llpAp
See what the experts have to say: "...close to zero..."
What this means is that as auto dealers in a number of states continue to shut down attempts by Tesla to sell its cars directly to customers, the president will now weigh in on the issue. But don’t be confused: The likelihood of federal action to preempt moves by the states here is close to zero.
In similar news, the number of plug-in vehicles from all manufacturers sold in June in the USA will surpass 8,000 units for the first time. From EVs, to EREVs to PiHVs. Numbers are growing as more EV owners spread the word of their utility and viability.
