107,870 with 7500 tax credit. Almost the same price as a maserati granturismo and more expensive than a fully loaded M5... Yeah everyone is going to own a tesla.
By the ignorance of your posts you would not be able to operate the vehicle. For you own safety don't even think about it. Way to complex for such a small minded person. You stick to what you know and I get the feeling its a very very limited choice.
You say with "decent features".. Sounds like you're talking almost fully loaded..
I recently got a quote on an 85KWH with Pano roof, upgraded paint, tech package and upgraded leather and wood trim for $81,070 (including 7500 tax credit).
While any Tesla will be out of the price range for many I don't think it is fair to use the highest price to make your point. In fact the base 60KWH model can be purchased for under $63K. This puts it well in the mid-range of BMW, Benz, etc..
Beautiful car, but very impractical. After a long road trip just can't see myself running an extension cord out the motel window to charge this baby, or sitting around at rest stops for over an hour to get her back on the road. This whole thing reminds me of the 1960's amphibious and flying car bs. Our current infrastructure does not support vehicles such as these, and most likely never will. A rich man's novelty toy.
But you get to charge for free. You just have to drive all the way to a supercharger and then wait 45 minutes and drive home. Even if you live close to the charger it will take about an hour assuming no one is at the charger when you get there.
The amazing thing is that Elon has found buyers for this car. Of course there was a lot of hype. But the inmitial demand did not hold up. Tesla now offers incentive to sell cars.
You really think a person who drives a maserati or m5 really cares about going out of their way to that one supercharging station and waiting 20 min for charge. All to save some money on gas. Their real concern would be insurance and taxes... NOT FUEL
For a cheaper EV, one can put a second battery pack into a Prius, and add a plug in. There are shops that specialize in this modification, and can do it in a few hours. The range is about 50 miles before needing to use the gas engine but in reality that is more than enough for most city people. The Tesla is first class, but there are always many less costly alternatives available.
YOU DON'T GET IT... "get the STUPID IDEA OF A CHEAPER EV" out of your mind...UNTIL THE "JOE SIX PACK JOB RECOVERY TAKES PLACE" ...he's the guy that might be in that "consumer mkt price niche."
more and more "joe six packs" CAN'T EVEN AFFORD A NEW CAR... they'll be buying used...or "doubling up to commute"...
THINK OF IT THIS WAY: YOU NEED TO BORROW MONEY...
a. there are 1000 people in a room... nobody "has more then a twenty in their wallet"
b. another room has 10 people in it ...they EACH ARE MILLIONAIRES...
c. you need to borrow 100k to start a business
D. DO YOU WASTE YOUR TIME...trying to "convince someone IN THE ROOM WITH the "1000 people" to maybe partner with you or venture capital fund your "startup" biz...
E. YOU "DUMMIE SHORTS" don't use common sense... me, I WOULD GO TO THE ROOM WITH THE F'N MILLIONAIRES... they may not believe in my venture... but if I can convince them... THEY HAVE LEAST HAVE THE RESOURCES TO GET ME STARTED...
IT'S LIKE THAT YOU "DUMB SHORTS" ...TESLA has convinced "a MINORITY RICH NICHE" to FUND THEM...get it dummy shorts... JOE SIX PACK IS "HURTIN" ...SO SALES GO DOWN IN HIS "MAJORITY NICHE"
TRY USING "SOME LOGIC"...AS IN THE ABOVE EXAMPLE...
You're wrong on the commuting distance. I personally know that 50% of our group of eight commutes an hour each way to work. The doubling of he Prius won't work. If it was as easy as you think it is then how come no one else has a car that goes more than 100 miles on a charge? Have you even driven the car? All the people who are shorting this stock will lose eventually because they don't understand the product or capability.
