    • MAYBE TAXI CAB WILL ORDERING THOUSANDS. think about GAS $80 per day 80x30=$2400 a month.

      Sentiment: Strong Buy

    • Obviously, Einstein, you've never been any part of a State fleet bid, have you? I have, the California CHP bid. From experience I can tell you those bids are won bare bones. In fact, if Tesla jumped into that fray, the winning bid most definitely would be BELOW cost. You see, the State, any state, can't just go out and designate a fleet account for transportation purposes. A bid request MUST be submitted. That means, everyone can bid. Of course, the state must provide clear cut specifications and you can be sure no state will consider the Tesla S in its current designation. No big screen console, leather seats, sound system, etc. Of course, Tesla could bid that way if Musk chooses. But it's a total waste of money to do so. Plus, in some cases, as is the CHP vehicles, certain modifications to the vehicles are demanded. So Tesla would need to provide, at minimum, the highest performance package possible with no frills inside. Just imagine the wear-and-tear on those puppies!

Yeah, you and your pals saying such a deal with California would be just dandy! You just better hope it doesn't happen. Because I can tell you the auto company, take your pick, NEVER wins. You guys just gleefully post garbage because it looks good to you. Boy, you have no clue at all.

One last thing. Have any of you heard about that slam-bam European leasing deal Tesla announced last year? Anyone???? It was 150 4drs, supposedly. I take it by the total lack of discussion, the deal fell apart. Anyone??? Was it another of the many unfulfilled touts by the Tesla "carnival barkers"?

      • All the governement fleets need to do is specify on the bid request that all vehicles must be zero emissions, state a minimum range requirement and minimum charging speed and the vehicle must be be compatible with existing infrastructure. Mission complete. The Mayor of Atherton, CA wants Teslas in their fleet.

      • How many trillions does the following cost governments to continue with fossil fuel transportation and warming climate, pollution problems? Also many have aggressive goals to reduce carbon emissions especially Europe and CA and get off the foreign oil addiction which currently hold Nations hostage and costs trillions to maintain stability in regions, maintain armies, create economic stress (markets fall) and paid ransom called economic aid like 20 billion/yr. to Pakistan which mostly hates the west!

      • Myslakod, instead of jumping on your soapbox, how about sticking to the subject, which is FLEET BUSINESS!!!

The point is NOT about hybrids, ICE's, EVs, BEVs, or nuclear-powered spaceships. It's about the automotive fleet business. Regardless of your ramblings, the simple fact of the matter is state bids, particularly California bids, are completely unprofitable for an auto company. Unless, however, the auto company needs the business to keep a plant open.

The Tesla 4dr was NOT designed to be anything other than what it is, a toy for wealthy people. Try to de-content the car, or merely add a performance package, AND sell the vehicle at a net loss? Well, you got a problem. Anyone suggesting this will be some sort of a good deal for Tesla should immediately send Tesla a resume' begging to be the lead fleet account exec for Tesla. I guarantee if said person managed to be hired, he/she would last until the first state bid was won, at a staggering loss to Tesla. That's the way it is. Now, kindly feel free to go jump back on your soapbox.

      • This is a stock board. Take the rant to the street.
